| Oregon State’s Stroughter gets medical hardship, can play in 2008
Oregon State receiver Sammie Stroughter was granted a medical hardship year for last season and can play for the Beavers this season, the Pacific-10 Conference announced.
Stroughter played in three of the first four games last season before he suffered a kidney injury and had to sit out the rest of the year. The hardship was granted in part because the senior had not redshirted at Oregon State.
“The entire team is very excited to have Sammie back,” coach Mike Riley said. “I want to thank the administrators who worked diligently on the process of him regaining the year.”
Stroughter was an Associated Press third-team All-American in 2006. He holds the school record for punt returns for touchdowns with three, and is 10th in career receiving yards with 1,613.
