| ESPN2 to Televise Football Season Opener
The 2008 Oregon State football season opener Thurs., Aug. 28 will be televised by ESPN2, the network announced Wednesday. The announcement means the first two games of the season will be nationally televised as the Beavers Sept. 6 contest at Penn State will air on either ABC or ESPN.
The game at Stanford marks the first time Oregon State has opened the season playing a conference game since a 1994 trip to Arizona State. The date also matches the earliest start ever to a season for the Beavers; the 2003 team opened the year at Reser Stadium against Sacramento State.
The Beavers begin on the field preparations for the 2008 season with the start of spring practice March 31. The annual spring game is May 3 at Reser Stadium. Oregon State will enter the season with a four-game win streak, including defeating Maryland in the Emerald Bowl for its fourth straight postseason victory.
Additional television information for the season will become available in the spring.
